Washington is home to some incredible ski resorts, offering everything from world-class powder to convenient and family-friendly slopes. Whether you’re looking for a quick day trip or a full-on weekend getaway, there’s no shortage of options for skiers and snowboarders in the Pacific Northwest.

Top Ski Resorts in Washington

Washington’s diverse landscape provides excellent ski conditions, and there are plenty of resorts to choose from depending on your skill level and how far you're willing to drive.

Crystal Mountain – As the largest ski resort in Washington, Crystal Mountain offers stunning views of Mount Rainier, over 2,600 acres of terrain, and a variety of runs for all experience levels. It’s about an hour and a half drive from Bonney Lake, making it a great option for a day or weekend trip.

Stevens Pass – Located just under two hours from Bonney Lake, Stevens Pass is a local favorite with 1,125 acres of skiable terrain, night skiing options, and a mix of beginner, intermediate, and advanced runs.

The Summit at Snoqualmie - Snoqualmie Pass is also about an hour and a half from the Bonney Lake. It’s known for its convenience to downtown Seattle, family-friendly atmosphere, and night skiing, making it a great option for beginners.

Mt. Baker – Famous for record-breaking snowfall, Mt. Baker is a paradise for powder lovers. It’s a bit more remote, located about four hours from Bonney Lake, but the incredible backcountry access and deep snow make it well worth the drive.

49 Degrees North – This resort, located in northeast Washington near Spokane, is known for its affordability and family-friendly atmosphere. It’s a great alternative for those looking to avoid the crowds at the bigger resorts and have a full-on getaway (since it’s about six hours from Bonney Lake).

 

Top Out-of-State Ski Resorts Near Washington

If you’re up for a ski road trip, there are several incredible resorts just beyond Washington’s borders that are worth checking out.

Schweitzer Mountain (Idaho) – Located about six and a half hours from Bonney Lake, Schweitzer is the largest ski resort in Idaho and offers breathtaking views of Lake Pend Oreille. With over 2,900 acres of skiable terrain, it’s an excellent choice for a weekend trip.

Mt. Bachelor (Oregon) – About six hours from Bonney Lake, Mt. Bachelor is known for its long ski season, incredible terrain, and wide-open runs. It’s a great option for those looking to experience something different without traveling too far.

Big Sky Resort (Montana) – If you’re up for a longer trip, Big Sky is about a 10-hour drive from Bonney Lake but is one of the biggest and most impressive ski resorts in the country. With 5,850 acres of terrain, it’s a dream destination for advanced skiers looking for wide-open bowls and long, thrilling runs.

Whistler Blackcomb (British Columbia, Canada) – Just under five hours from Bonney Lake, Whistler Blackcomb is one of the most renowned ski resorts in North America. With two massive mountains, a charming village, and an incredible variety of terrain, it’s a must-visit for any serious skier or snowboarder.

If skiing is a major part of your lifestyle, proximity to the mountains might be an important factor when buying a home. Some Washington residents choose to live within easy driving distance of the slopes, whether that means settling in Snoqualmie, North Bend, or somewhere with quick access to I-90 or Highway 2.
